Chipotle is the build-your-own Mexican chain that turned a single Denver burrito shop into a 4,200-plus restaurant company: one line, one assembly line, 53 real ingredients, and a price that depends almost entirely on which protein you pick. This guide lists the complete current US menu with typical prices and calories for every item — burritos, bowls, salads, tacos, quesadillas, the High Protein line, chips and dips, family meals, kids meals and drinks — checked in October 2026.
Three companion guides go deeper: the Chipotle secret menu collects the fan-made builds regulars order by recipe, the Chipotle nutrition guide breaks down every ingredient with fat, carbs, protein and sodium, and the Chipotle coupons and deals guide explains how Chipotle Rewards, the Boorito deal and Chipotle U actually save you money — and why you should ignore the promo-code sites.
How to read the prices: Chipotle sets prices by market, so no national price list exists. Each typical price below is the Atlanta price from a three-real-store check of Chipotle’s own online ordering menus in September 2026 — Atlanta, Dallas and New York. Atlanta is the middle price in every row: Dallas runs lower, New York City runs highest (a chicken entrée is $8.95 in Dallas and $11.95 in New York). Treat these as typical, not promised. Calories are for the standard build (white rice, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, cheese; burritos add the flour tortilla, salads swap rice for supergreens and add vinaigrette) from Chipotle’s published nutrition data.
One rule explains most of the menu: your protein sets the price, and that price carries across formats. A chicken burrito, bowl, salad or three tacos all cost the same $9.35. The only exceptions are single tacos (priced individually) and quesadillas (priced higher, and sold through the app only). Rice, beans and most toppings are free — guacamole, queso, double protein and a double wrap are the only add-ons that cost extra.
Burritos
The burrito is the format that started the company in 1993, and it is still the heaviest build on the menu — the 13-inch flour tortilla alone adds 320 calories and 600 mg of sodium. Prices below are the entrée price for each protein; a burrito with the standard build runs about 300 calories more than the same fillings in a bowl. If you want the Mexican comparison, see our Taco Bell menu prices guide.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken | $9.35 | 1,000 |
| Steak | $11.35 | 1,020 |
| Barbacoa | $11.35 | 1,020 |
| Carnitas | $10.10 | 1,020 |
| Sofritas | $9.35 | 950 |
| Veggie | $9.35 | 790 |
| Pollo Asado (LTO) | $9.95 | 1,000 |

Pollo Asado is the limited-time protein on this table: it relaunched nationwide on August 31, 2026, alongside Chili Lime Chips, and Chipotle has not announced either as permanent. Its standard-build calories match chicken’s exactly, because both proteins are 180 calories a serving.
Burrito Bowls
The bowl is the same fillings without the tortilla, which is why every bowl here is about 300 calories lighter than its burrito twin. It is also the format the nutrition guide is built around: skip the tortilla and you drop 50 g of carbs and 600 mg of sodium before changing anything else.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken | $9.35 | 700 |
| Steak | $11.35 | 710 |
| Barbacoa | $11.35 | 720 |
| Carnitas | $10.10 | 710 |
| Sofritas | $9.35 | 660 |
| Veggie | $9.35 | 490 |
| Pollo Asado (LTO) | $9.95 | 700 |

The Veggie bowl is the lightest standard build at 490 calories — and it comes with guacamole free, which no meat entrée gets. Sofritas, the organic tofu protein, is the other meat-free build with free guac, and at 660 calories it is the most filling of the lighter options.
Salads
A Chipotle salad swaps the rice for supergreens and adds the chipotle-honey vinaigrette — which is why the salad numbers look so kind until you count the dressing: one serving of vinaigrette is 220 calories and 850 mg of sodium, more sodium than the tortilla you skipped. Ask for it on the side and the salad is the lightest format on the menu.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken | $9.35 | 630 |
| Steak | $11.35 | 640 |
| Barbacoa | $11.35 | 650 |
| Carnitas | $10.10 | 630 |
| Sofritas | $9.35 | 590 |
| Veggie | $9.35 | 420 |
| Pollo Asado (LTO) | $9.95 | 630 |

The Veggie salad at 420 calories is the lowest-calorie standard entrée Chipotle sells. The steak salad built light — supergreens, steak, green salsa, fajita veggies, dressing on the side — comes in near 195 calories with 23 g of protein.
Tacos — Three Per Order
Three tacos cost exactly the entrée price for the protein, and they hold less filling than a bowl — which is most of why they come in lower on calories. Crispy corn shells are the lowest-sodium base on the menu at roughly 15 mg for all three; soft flour tortillas add roughly 450 mg.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken | $9.35 | 450 |
| Steak | $11.35 | 470 |
| Barbacoa | $11.35 | 460 |
| Carnitas | $10.10 | 460 |
| Sofritas | $9.35 | 420 |
| Veggie | $9.35 | 350 |
| Pollo Asado (LTO) | $9.95 | 450 |

Single Tacos
Single tacos are the cheapest full entrée on the menu and the only format priced individually. Chipotle does not publish single-taco calories separately — a single taco is roughly a third of the three-taco build, and the card below shows prices only for that reason.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Chicken | $3.50 | – |
| Steak | $4.55 | – |
| Barbacoa | $4.55 | – |
| Carnitas | $4.05 | – |
| Sofritas | $3.50 | – |
| Veggie | $3.50 | – |
| Pollo Asado (LTO) | $3.75 | – |

A single chicken, sofritas or veggie taco at $3.50 is the cheapest way to try the menu — and, paired with a side of chips, it is a real lunch for under $6 before a drink.
Quesadillas (App / Digital Only)
Quesadillas are the one format you cannot order at the counter: they are sold through the Chipotle app and website only, a rule that dates to their return as a digital-exclusive item. They also start higher than every other format, because cheese is built into the base rather than optional — a cheese-only quesadilla is 850 calories before any filling. Salsas and sour cream come in separate cups, so count them only if you use them. Prices below are national averages from the September 2026 guide, except Pollo Asado, which is the Atlanta store price.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Cheese Only | $8.50 | 850 |
| Chicken | $11.50 | 1,150 |
| Steak | $12.50 | 1,170 |
| Barbacoa | $12.50 | 1,170 |
| Carnitas | $12.50 | 1,160 |
| Sofritas | $11.00 | 1,100 |
| Pollo Asado (LTO) | $10.50 | 1,150 |

The quesadilla is also the base of the secret menu’s most famous build: order a quesadilla, then have the crew build your burrito inside it, and you have a Quesarito — full instructions are in the secret menu guide.
High Protein Menu (December 2025)
Chipotle launched its official High Protein Menu in December 2025, aimed squarely at GLP-1 users and macro trackers: preset bowls, tacos and protein cups that skip the rice-heavy builds. The cups are the interesting line — a 4 oz protein serving on its own, priced like a double-protein add-on, for people who want the protein without the bowl.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Double HP Bowl | $13.15 | 760 |
| HP–High Fiber Bowl | $9.35 | 540 |
| HP–Low Calorie Bowl | $12.30 | 470 |
| Double HP Burrito | $13.15 | 840 |
| HP Taco | $3.50 | 190 |
| HP Cup – Chicken | $3.80 | 180 |
| HP Cup – Steak | $5.80 | 150 |
| HP Cup – Pollo Asado | $4.40 | 220 |

The classic lifestyle bowls — Keto, Paleo, Whole30, Veggie Full, Balanced Macros — still exist as preset builds in the app, priced like a bowl with their protein (national averages $9.00–$14.50 in the September 2026 guide). The High Protein line above is the newer, tighter version of the same idea.
Chips & Dips
Chips are the one side Chipotle is famous for in their own right — fried in-house, salted with lime, and served in two sizes. Chili Lime Chips are the limited-time variant that relaunched with Pollo Asado on August 31, 2026. A regular chips-and-guac at $4.90 is 770 calories; the large size nearly doubles it.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Chips | $1.95 | 540 |
| Chili Lime Chips (LTO) | $2.45 | 550 |
| Chips & Guacamole | $4.90 | 770 |
| Chili Lime & Guac | $5.40 | 780 |
| Large Chips | $2.75 | 810 |
| Large Chili Lime Chips | $3.45 | 790 |
| Large Chips & Lg Guac | $8.65 | 1,270 |
| Large Chili Lime & Guac | $9.35 | 1,290 |
| Chips & Tomato Salsa | $2.30 | 565 |
| Chips & Queso Blanco | $4.90 | 780 |
| Large Chips & Lg Queso | $8.65 | 1,290 |

Chips with any salsa run $2.30 — the salsa itself is the cheapest dip on the menu, and the roasted chili-corn salsa at 80 calories is the most substantial of the four.
Sides & Extras
This is the table that controls your total. Guacamole ($2.95), queso blanco ($1.70 as an entrée add-on, $2.95 as a side) and double protein ($3.80–$5.80) are the only paid extras on a standard order — everything else on the line is free. A double wrap is $0.50 and adds a full second tortilla’s 320 calories, which is also the cheapest secret-menu upgrade in the building.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Side of Guacamole | $2.95 | 230 |
| Large Guacamole | $5.90 | 460 |
| Side of Queso Blanco | $2.95 | 240 |
| Large Queso Blanco | $5.90 | 480 |
| Tortilla on the Side | $0.50 | 320 |
| Double Wrap | $0.50 | 320 |
| Cilantro Lime Sauce | $1.50 | 160 |
| Large Cilantro Lime | $3.00 | 320 |
| Double Chicken | $3.80 | 180 |
| Double Steak | $5.80 | 150 |
| Double Barbacoa | $5.80 | 170 |
| Double Carnitas | $4.55 | 210 |

Note the queso split: as an entrée topping, queso blanco is $1.45–$1.80; as a standalone side cup it is $2.95 for a larger portion (240 calories against the topping’s 120). Order it on the entrée, not beside it, and you save a dollar.
Family Meals (Serves 4–6)
Family Meals are Chipotle’s group bundle, ordered at the register or online — not catering, which is a separate program. A Build-Your-Own bundle comes with tortillas, rice, beans, toppings and chips built in. At $50 for chicken, the per-person cost is about $8.35–$12.50, undercutting individual entrées for a group of five or six. For the pizza-night equivalent, see our Pizza Hut menu prices guide.
| Item | Price | Serves |
|---|---|---|
| BYO – Chicken | $50.00 | Serves 4–6 |
| BYO – Steak | $61.00 | Serves 4–6 |
| BYO – Sofritas | $50.00 | Serves 4–6 |
| 2 Lg Chips & 3 Lg Sides | $18.75 | Serves 4–6 |

Calorie counts for family bundles run as wide ranges (roughly 490–1,220 per person depending on build), so they are not in the table — the bundle feeds four to six, and what each person eats decides the number.
Kids Menu
Every kids meal comes with a main, a side and a kid drink. Prices below are national averages from the September 2026 guide — kids pricing varies less by market than adult entrées, but your store may still differ by a dollar. Chipotle does not publish kids-meal calories separately.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Kids Build Your Own | $5.75 | – |
| Kids Cheese Quesadilla | $5.75 | – |
| Kids Chicken Quesadilla | $6.75 | – |
| Kids Tacos | $5.75 | – |

The Kids Build Your Own is the flexible pick — a smaller entrée with a protein and two toppings — while the Kids Quesadilla is the one kids actually finish.
Drinks — Fountain & Aguas Frescas
Fountain drinks come in two cup sizes, and the organic aguas frescas — lemonade, watermelon limeade, mandarin and berry — are Chipotle’s own bottled line, priced like a fountain drink. Fountain calories run 0–300 depending on what you pour; the aguas frescas are 170–330.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Fountain 22 oz | $3.15 | 0–300 |
| Fountain 32 oz | $3.45 | 0–300 |
| Organic Lemonade | $3.15 | 170–250 |
| Watermelon Limeade | $3.15 | 230–330 |
| Mandarin Agua Fresca | $3.15 | 190–280 |
| Berry Agua Fresca | $3.15 | 200–290 |

Bottled Drinks
The bottled case is where Chipotle’s drink menu gets interesting: Mexican Coca-Cola and Sprite in glass bottles (cane sugar, not corn syrup), San Pellegrino, Poppi prebiotic sodas, Jarritos, Tractor lemonade, apple juice and still water. Nothing here is free — even water is $3.15 a bottle, so ask for a courtesy water cup if you want tap water.
| Item | Price | Calories |
|---|---|---|
| Mexican Coca-Cola | $3.45 | 150 |
| Mexican Sprite | $3.45 | 160 |
| Coke Zero | $3.45 | 0 |
| San Pellegrino | $3.20 | 0 |
| Poppi Strawberry Lemon | $3.20 | 30 |
| Poppi Orange | $3.20 | 25 |
| Jarritos Mango | $3.45 | 140 |
| Jarritos Guava | $3.45 | 110 |
| Tractor Lemonade | $3.50 | 140 |
| Apple Juice | $3.50 | 240 |
| Open Water Still | $3.15 | 0 |

One rewards note: a fountain drink is 400 points in the Rewards Exchange — one of the cheapest redemptions on the whole rewards ladder.
Allergen Information
Chipotle’s allergen picture is unusually simple: it declares only four allergens in the US, and the flour tortilla is the only gluten-containing ingredient. The card below covers all nine major allergens and where each one hides — or doesn’t — on this menu.

Two warnings matter more than the rest. First, the shared line: Chipotle kitchens are open-format with shared grills, boards and utensils, so the company cannot promise zero cross-contact — the risk that matters most for celiac disease and severe dairy allergy is the hands, not the ingredients. Second, corn: chips and corn tortillas carry no gluten ingredients, but Chipotle notes corn can pick up trace gluten in the field before it reaches the restaurant. For a serious allergy, confirm with the store and use the allergen filter at chipotle.com/allergens before ordering.
Nutrition Highlights
The full charts — every protein, base, salsa and topping with fat, carbs, protein and sodium — live in the Chipotle nutrition guide. This excerpt covers the six builds people ask about most, with macros computed from Chipotle’s per-ingredient figures.
| Build | Calories | Fat (g) | Carbs (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Chicken Bowl | 765 | 30 | 69 | 52 |
| Steak Burrito | 1,055 | 38 | 120 | 49 |
| Veggie Bowl | 620 | 28 | 80 | 15 |
| Chicken Salad | 675 | 33 | 47 | 48 |
| Double Chicken Bowl | 725 | 20 | 66 | 76 |
| Steak Salad (Light) | 195 | 6 | 12 | 23 |

The pattern to remember: the tortilla is 320 calories, the vinaigrette is 850 mg of sodium, and guacamole is 230 calories — those three choices swing any order more than the protein does.
Chipotle Hours
Most Chipotle restaurants open at 10:45 AM and close at 10:00 PM, seven days a week — there is no chain-wide schedule beyond that, so check your store in the Chipotle app before a late run. The original Denver store at 1644 E Evans Ave keeps longer hours than most: 10:45 AM to 11:00 PM daily. Chipotle does not serve breakfast; lunch starts at opening.
Holiday hours vary by store and are posted in the app. Most locations close early on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and many are closed entirely on Christmas Day.
Reviews: The Original Chipotle in Denver
Every Chipotle descends from one shop: the former Dolly Madison ice cream store at 1644 E Evans Ave in Denver, opened July 13, 1993, and still serving today across from the University of Denver campus. Aggregators disagree on the store’s score — Restaurantji puts it at 3.7 stars from 272 ratings, while another listing shows 4.6 from 231 — so read the reviews themselves, not just the number. The pattern across them: the history delights, the food is the same Chipotle everywhere, and the tiny dining room is the recurring complaint.
“Visiting the original Chipotle on Evans near DU feels like a small burrito pilgrimage. This is where Chipotle began in 1993, and you can still see the roots of the industrial design that became familiar in locations across the country.”
— Raj Panchal, Google review, August 2026 (via Restaurantji; Atmosphere 5, Food 5, Service 5)
“Made the pilgrimage to the very first Chipotle from out of state! Such a cool, understated spot. It was kind of funny seeing regulars eat there who had no clue it was the original. The food was great and the portions were really generous. The absolute best part of our visit was the staff. Adriana and Exzar were so welcoming and attentive.”
— Chloe Femto, Google review, June 2026 (via Restaurantji)
“I very rarely give a place 5 star but this place is awesome. The original Chipotle. It was very clean and the staff was super friendly and attentive. They put my bowl together fast and accurately. The taste was great and it was hot and fresh. I really loved this experience. I will be back!”
— Stephen Taylor, Google review, May 2026 (via Restaurantji; Atmosphere 5, Food 5, Service 5)
“Horrible chipotle. You better hope you don’t come in here with literally more than two people other than yourself because this team absolutely falls apart. Somehow with six people working they can’t get a small order out in a reasonable amount of time every time I come here.”
— Leslie Daggs, Google review, June 2026 (via Restaurantji)
The honest summary: go for the history and the food, expect a small room and a line, and order ahead in the app if you are in a hurry — the store’s own fans say the same thing.
Chipotle Facts
- Steve Ells opened the first Chipotle on July 13, 1993, in a former Dolly Madison ice cream shop at 1644 E Evans Ave, across from the University of Denver — with an $85,000 loan from his father.
- Ells figured he needed to sell 107 burritos a day to break even. The shop sold more than 1,000 a day in its first month.
- The name comes from chipotle — the Nahuatl word (chilpoctli) for a smoked, dried jalapeño chili pepper.
- Ells trained at the Culinary Institute of America and cooked at Stars restaurant in San Francisco. He opened Chipotle to fund the fine-dining restaurant he actually wanted — and never got around to it.
- McDonald’s invested in Chipotle in 1998, became its majority owner, and fully divested in October 2006 — turning roughly $360 million into about $1.5 billion.
- Chipotle went public on the NYSE in January 2006 under the ticker CMG, and the stock doubled on its first day of trading.
- After E. coli and norovirus outbreaks in 2015, Chipotle closed every restaurant on February 8, 2016, for a company-wide food-safety meeting.
- Headquarters moved from Denver to Newport Beach, California, in 2018, under CEO Brian Niccol — the former Taco Bell chief.
- Niccol left for Starbucks in August 2024; Scott Boatwright, who had been interim chief, became permanent CEO in 2025.
- Chipotle executed a 50-for-1 stock split in 2024, one of the largest in NYSE history.
- As of June 30, 2026, Chipotle had more than 4,200 restaurants and nearly 140,000 employees — and it owns and operates its US, Canadian and European stores rather than franchising them.
- The first Chipotle in Asia opened in Seoul, South Korea, in September 2026, and the company opened its 1,500th Chipotlane the same year.
- Chipotle cooks with 53 real ingredients, no freezers in most kitchens, and food prepared fresh each morning — the ‘Food with Integrity’ standard Ells set in 1993.
- Guacamole is made in-store, by hand, every day — never shipped pre-made.
- A Chipotlane is a drive-thru pickup lane for digital orders, not a traditional drive-thru: you order ahead, then collect at the window.
- Chipotle Rewards relaunched as ‘Rewards on Repeat’ on April 13, 2026, extending the points expiry window from 180 days to 365 days.
- The Boorito Halloween deal — a $6 entrée in costume for Rewards members — returns on October 31, 2026.
- The official High Protein Menu launched in December 2025, built around GLP-1 users and macro trackers, with protein cups sold on their own.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a chicken burrito at Chipotle in 2026?
Typically $9.35 — the Atlanta price from a three-store check of Chipotle’s own ordering menus in September 2026. The same burrito is $8.95 in Dallas and $11.95 in New York City, because Chipotle prices by market.
Does Chipotle have a secret menu?
No official one — Chipotle has never published a secret menu. The builds on our secret menu page (Quesarito, Burritodilla, Nachos, Dragon Sauce) are fan-made combinations of standard ingredients, ordered by recipe, and most crews will build them.
How many calories are in a Chipotle chicken bowl?
700 calories for the standard build (white rice, black beans, chicken, fresh tomato salsa, cheese). The classic loaded build — add sour cream — is about 765 calories with 52 g of protein.
Is Chipotle gluten-free?
Almost entirely: the flour tortilla is the only gluten-containing ingredient. Bowls, salads and corn-tortilla tacos are made without gluten ingredients — but the shared open line means Chipotle can’t promise zero cross-contact for celiac disease.
Does Chipotle have coupons or promo codes?
No standing promo-code program — coupon sites that list Chipotle codes are inventing them. The real ways to save are Chipotle Rewards (10 points per $1, free entrée at 1,625 points), the new-member chips-and-guac offer, and seasonal events like the $6 Boorito entrée on October 31, 2026.
What is the cheapest thing on the Chipotle menu?
A single taco with chicken, sofritas or veggie at $3.50. As a side, an order of chips is $1.95 and a tortilla on the side is $0.50.
The Bottom Line
Chipotle rewards people who understand the system: the protein sets the price, rice and beans and most toppings are free, the tortilla is the 320-calorie decision, and guacamole is the only topping worth budgeting for. For the builds regulars don’t put on the menu board, see the Chipotle secret menu; for the full ingredient charts, the nutrition guide; and before your next run, check the coupons and rewards guide — the $6 Boorito entrée on October 31 is the best deal of the year, and it only lasts a day.
